Nutella hot cocoa

When I was younger my older sister had an opportunity to go to the Netherlands and came back with many anecdotes involving bikes and such. What I really remember though is when she bragged/raved about having chocolate for breakfast. My mom wouldn't hear of such a thing. I mean, she was one of those strict moms that wouldn't even let us bring a fluffernutter sandwich for a school lunch because it was "basically candy" as she put it. Sigh. Of course she's right, you know, but no seven year old cares about healthy when they jealously spy the kid next to them licking marshmallow fluff off their face.
The chocolate that my older sister was talking about was the magical European treat that has stormed America's pantries over the last decade: NUTELLA! As the commercial states, you can put it on toast, dip fruit into it and now you can have hot cocoa with it!!!!!
So here I am having chocolate for breakfast and won't share it with my two-year old because "it's basically candy" (yes, mother's daughter). Regardless, this would be a wonderful snack or dessert to have and it takes no time at all. I still love the luxurious Triple Hot Cocoa (especially for a crowd) but I adapted this recipe for one serving so if a chocolate addiction hits you, this super fast cocoa can touch your lips in 2 minutes- thanks to the microwave.

Nutella Hot Cocoa
slightly adapted from here
Serves 1

Recipe Notes:
- I know this recipe may seem vague but the amount of milk depends on the size mug you use. Also, the amount of Nutella depends on how sweet you like your hot cocoa.

Ingredients:
6-8 oz. of milk (any percentage is fine- could even use coconut or almond milk)
2-4 Tbs. of Nutella
any topping of choice- I used this homemade marshmallow recipe, but whip cream would be fantastic as well.

Directions:
1. In a microwaveable mug, pour the milk and spoon in the desired amount of Nutella.
2. Place the mug and its contents into the microwave for about 2 minutes. You'll need to stir quite vigorously (a small whisk does wonders here) for breaking up and mixing the Nutella into the milk. Enjoy!
