Kitchen Fixation: August
Do you own a cherry pitter? If you're crazy about fresh cherries than I can't recommend it enough. Especially if you have little kids, and the removal of the pit is essential for their well-being, than this makes the job a breeze.
Also, there's no way I could've made the Cherry Almond Brown Butter Bars look as pretty as they did without using this device. Instead of cutting the cherries in half and scraping out the pit, this basically stabs through the center of the cherry to push the pit out. I love that it has a plastic juice shield at the bottom because no one wants cherry juice staining their clothes.
Sometimes I look at all the kitchen gadgets I have and, admittedly in the dead of winter with no hopes of fresh cherries any time soon, the cherry pitter does seem superfluous, but then the summer comes around again and I'm back in love.

I have actually seen this device in action and it's amazing. I wish when my children were younger we had one of these.
ReplyDeleteYes Mark, my mom said the same thing!
DeleteWow, so cool! I had never seen one of these. I want one then I can eat cherries faster! & I can see how this would make baking easier too. Which brand do you recommend?

Hey KK, at the top of the post 'cherry pitter' is highlighted in pink, and that will direct you to the site that I'd recommend, but it's an OXO brand and you can get that at lot's of places: Target may have it, Bed Bath and Beyond, maybe William's Sonoma.
