Technically these should be called 'The Diet Ruiners' but that's too negative for these tasty babies. There's a wonderful trifecta of flavors and textures happening here: salty and sweet with the crisp, thin flat pretzels, creaminess from the peanut butter and the chocolate encases it all with it's delicate richness.
These take no time at all to make and are so easy. Too easy, in fact. They're also extremely addictive, which makes them extremely dangerous. Oh, and don't ever crush them up and put them on Haagen Dazs vanilla ice cream. Just don't. Your tongue will crave for more but your jeans will hate you in the morning. Trust me on this one.
Wouldn't these be wonderful to bring to the movies (I love sneaking food into the movies)?
Or stuff a few in a plastic egg and you've got some homemade candy from the Easter Bunny!
Chocolate Peanut Butter Dips
Makes 9-12
Recipe Notes:
- There's no real measurements here because you can apply more, or less, peanut butter to your pretzels if you want. Or you may need to do a larger batch... just make sure you use the flat pretzels.
Ingredients
9-12 Flat pretzel thins
1/4 Cup Peanut Butter (smooth is easier to spread, but you could do chunky if you preferred)
5-6 oz. Milk chocolate chips
Directions
1. Prepare a baking sheet or tray with parchment paper (or wax paper). With a spatula, or knife, spread the peanut butter onto one side of the pretzel and place on the baking sheet. Once all the peanut butter is on the pretzels, place the tray in the freezer for at least a half hour.
2. In the meantime, melt the chocolate chips. Once pretzels & peanut butter are hard, use a fork to dip them in the melted chocolate, tapping off any excess chocolate, and return to the tray and freezer. Once the chocolate has hardened, they can be left out at room temperature or kept in the fridge.
