beauty product storage update

Last week Elise Ruby and I were in New Mexico visiting my grandmother (that's why there were so few posts) and we got a true taste of heavenly Spring weather. Each day was 70 degrees, allowing us to spend many hours playing outside at the park and blowing bubbles. Returning to rainy, 40 degree New England has energized me to get ready for Spring Cleaning!

Remember when I was Dreaming of Beauty Product Solutions? Well I think I've found some ways to organize my beauty products and clean out the old ones at the same time- which has really helped me find things!

Pinspirational beauty

If you have any involvement with Pinterest you'll understand what I'm about to say: I love to pin pins. I love the images, the idea's, the mental planning, the hope of changing something, the organization for planning something, anything! Pinterest is wonderful and amazing and a little bit overwhelming, if I'm being honest. I've been trying to pull away lately because I've just pinned and pinned and pinned and now what do I do with all of it? Most of the time I pin with a purpose: a new recipe to try, a different way to sew curtains, an activity for toddlers...  but then I have so many pins and so many boards that it's becoming a little out of control. I recently went through my older pins and found some real gems. There are things I've intended to do/try but they've just gotten lost with the new pins coming in. Here are some of my pins that are just devoted to beauty (tomorrow I'll show you my dessert pins- it's a treasure trove of good idea's!):

~ I've heard amazing things about this mask and about the brand, Eve Lom, I just need to get my hands on it!

~I'm really horrible at doing my own nails because I usually dent them when they're almost dry. I've been wanting to get this nail dryer for a while now since it could help my manicure last.

~ I've already talked about product storage here and this has inspired me to get my makeup organized and under control. Shallow drawers would be really great for makeup. This is definitely an inspiration.

~ Finding the perfect bubble bath products have been on my blogging to-do list for quite some time now. This is one that I've gotta try- just try to resist that gorgeous packaging!

So, does this seem familiar to you as well- lot's of pinning but nothing being done with the pins? Since I'm going back to my old pins it's also helping me clear out some that I'll never do or already tried and didn't have success with. It's like Spring Cleaning for Pinterest!

I'm dreaming of... beauty product storage!!

Beauty product storage is a bit of an issue for me. One of the main issues is my bathroom: 

there's absolutely no storage in there except for a wall cabinet that I put up when we moved in. The pedestal sink means there's no under-cabinet storage which forces me to put all my products in the "everything" closet next to my bathroom. My dream storage space would probably be this:

Yes I'm aware that this is clothing, but I'd be happy having a large vanity for makeup and a cabinet filled with products in a room with my clothes (because this is soooo much more than a closet!). This happens to be one side of Mariah Carey's closet, and since I don't have a voice that can make millions of dollahs, I'm going to have to make do with my ranch house. 

Unfortunately there aren't many storage options for my situation. There's a ton of "under cabinet storage" or "drawer divider" containers, but since I don't have a cabinet or drawers, I have to get creative (ie, time for a hack!). I think I found a few items that could help me:

- When you have a deep shelf for narrow items (like beauty products) sometimes items in the back get lost- having this stair step would prevent that (technically this is a spice rack).

- This would be perfect for holding larger items like a hair dryer, shampoo's, bubble baths, etc. It doesn't hurt that the color is fantastic too.

- Another spice rack, but a turntable can be your best friend. It literally rotates your products so nothing gets forgotten. The top could hold smaller things like eye creams and nail polishes.

- Acrylic is a girls best friend when it comes to makeup storage. I love being able to see all my products and the divided compartments and various drawer sizes really make this customizable.
