Costume reveal

I've been celebrating Halloween for almost a week now (mostly by eating the candy I have for the trick-or-treaters) and I wanted you to see what it's looked like!

I ordered this cupcake costume for Elise Ruby, from Amazon, and thought it would look adorable on her. Plus, living in New England it's cold here for Halloween and I really wanted her in a costume that would cover her up so I wouldn't have to ruin it by putting a coat on. Nothing is worse than trick or treaters covering up their costumes because it's cold.
Well as you can see, she was uncomfortable in this thing. First of all, the "hat" is supposed to be the "cherry on top" and- let's forget about the fact that I put it on incorrectly- it's a floppy mess. No one would know that thing is a cherry. Secondly, the body of the cupcake flares out and she can't put her arms down. She just looked miserable.

One of her birthday gifts was a Sofia the First costume dress, from her Auntie Ali. Ruby loves Sofia the First and calls her "phia", as if they're best buds. I considered getting her this costume before, but still went with the cupcake because of the cold-weather-thing. Whelp, I should've followed my gut. Her receiving this dress made it so that I didn't have to scramble around trying to find a last-minute new costume. I ended up putting the dress over her clothes so that at least she's warm and people can tell what she is. She loves it, clearly.

I did two different looks recently. This first one is an homage to the '20's flapper girl. Luckily I had on-hand a lot of vintage-y jewelry pieces and made this necklace/headband.
I did dramatic, full brows, a gray smokey eye with a touch of silver in the middle and a vampy dark lip that I lined with black eyeliner and then blended it into the wine colored lipstick.

The other look I did was the Queen of Hearts. I've had that top hat headband, from Urban Outfitters, for a couple years and it seemed like a good time to use it. I applied a shimmery blue eyeshadow on my eyelids and the heart "mole" and heart lips are curtesy of this lipliner. The lips required concealer all over and then I was able to draw the dramatic heart shape on my lips. I couldn't really wear any other lip products because any moisture and this heart was bleeding! Needless to say, my lips were aching for a lip balm at the end of the day. It was worth it though.

Did you dress up? I'd love to see pictures!
