The true meaning of beauty rest: Sleep Masks

Sleep masks have become a quickly growing trend, and these aren't the silk masks you put on your eyes to shield the light. These masks are focused on intense hydration with added benefits, so here's the roundup:

Dr. Jart Water Fuse Water-Max Sleeping Mask is a beautiful, soft cream-gel consistency that immediately soaks into the skin. Leave this by your bedside table- it's meant to be applied 10 minutes before you fall asleep (that means you've already done your nighttime skincare routine and this goes over it) and in the morning any dry, irritated skin will vanish. Because this is lightweight, this mask is suitable for all skin types, including oily/acne skin. It won't clog the skin or feel heavy, and it may reduce topical dehydration due to aggressive anti-acne treatments.

Nuxe Masque Creme Fraiche de Beaute  has 8 natural milk plant extracts to soothe, moisturize and soften the skin. After cleansing, apply the cream to dry skin and leave on for 10 minutes and either rinse or tissue off... or you can rub it in for extra moisture!

Boscia Tsubaki Deep Hydration Sleeping Mask contains natural plant extracts and oils for anti-aging and hydration. This rich cream is meant to replace your nighttime moisturizer so only use it a few times a week- especially when you need the additional hydration.

Peter Thomas Roth Camu Camu Power Cx30 Sleeping Mask is for skin that is lackluster, dull, dry and more importantly... spotty. You know what I mean. Spotty= pigmentation- from either the sun or age or acne... these aren't the freckles you were born with. This mask contains camu camu berry, a fruit that has 30 times more vitamin C than an orange, making it more potent. Apply over your entire nighttime skincare routine (including moisturizer) only 2-3 times a week. If you're already using a brightening routine than this is ideal- it will only speed your results to clearer, radiant skin.

** Even though my combination skin isn't necessarily dry, I do encounter some surface dehydration (especially in the winter) so I've enjoyed trying these beauties. I like that each mask is more than just a moisturizer- there are options based on your needs and it's nice to have the variety, don't you agree?

Any other sleep masks you'd recommend?

Peel it off, peel it all off... the best Peel off mask for your skin

Sorry I didn't post yesterday but both Elise Ruby and I were sick this weekend and have been in recovery-mode. One thing that is nice to do for yourself when you're recovering from whatever ails you is a mask, so without further ado...

Welcome to mask week!! Last week was focused on healthy baking and this week will be focused on using masks to get your skin healthy. Peel-off masks are a fun way to treat and heal your skin and there's a peel-off mask for every skin type- here are some options.

Boscia Peel-Off Masks have four different varieties to offer based off your skin needs: The Luminizing Black Mask will decongest clogged pores i.e., blackheads. The Cool Blue Calming Mask will help hydrate and soothe red, irritated skin. The Bright White Mask will help brighten dark spots on skin and give it an allover radiance. The Green Tea Oil Control Mask is targeted for acne and breakouts.

Freeman Peel-Off Mask Cucumber will help make skin soft and remove impurities. I've also seen one-time-use packets of the Freeman masks at the drugstore making them travel-friendly or if you're a full-size commitment-phobe.

First Aid Beauty Red Clay Purifying Mask will deep clean the skin and reduce inflammation that is caused by breakouts.
No this isn't Campbell's tomato soup smeared all over my face, it's the First Aid Beauty Red Clay mask

** The key to any peel-off mask actually peeling off is to apply a pretty thick layer. If you only do a thin layer the mask will take forever to come off because you'll be peeling little, tiny strips... and you might as well just wash it off. When the thick layer is dry just make an expression. Yes any expression will do because your skin should be so tight from the mask that when you move your face parts of the mask will pull away, making this a great starting point for peeling. Then wash away any remaining mask residue and your skin should feel soft, luminous and healthy.

Have you ever tried a peel-off mask? Any favorites you'd recommend?
